WaveMaker’s Remote Team Collaborated Using Groupe.io to Roll Out Version 10.4

WaveMaker, a Rapid Application Development (RAD) platform, is designed to make new app building faster and easier. The product is owned by WaveMaker, Inc., headquartered in Mountain View, California.
The platform is undergoing constant upgrades, and a major update was scheduled to be rolled out in the first week of April, 2020.
Unfortunately, COVID struck hard and the team shifted to working remotely from 18th March. Despite this disruption, the team managed to work together on the WaveMaker upgrade and version 10.4 of the product was released on 20 April, 2020!
The Groupe.io employee app was used to collaborate within the team during execution of this project. Groupe played a vital role in ensuring smooth communication within a remote team.
Collaborating within a big team of distributed workers is a difficult task to say the least. The entire team resides in a common time zone. This doesn’t make project coordination within a remote team any easier.
Working from home comes with a lot of distractions such as household chores, catering to kids and pets and varying internet speeds.
Solutions and Results
However, the journey becomes easier with the right tools to manage tasks, track progress and convey information instantly to everyone.
Groupe.io as an internal collaboration platform was a handy tool during this ordeal. Each and every team member was engaging in conversations regarding developing the product features. Conversations drive productivity and Groupe was instrumental in making that happen.
Also, teamwork across development, testing and devops teams became easier and more efficient.
Features in Groupe that Helped Drive the Operation:
Posts, group chats and individual chats are instant messaging tools that helped team members instantly collaborate on the project.
Hashtags helped with organizing content under a single umbrella that could be discovered easily at a later date.
Links to Google Docs
Inbuilt links to Google docs helped the team instantly exchange documents and data within a secure loop.
Links to Presentations
Sharing links to presentations makes knowledge sharing easier and consequently, helped in faster execution.
Groupe.io vs. Whatsapp
A secure data sharing tool is very important for a remote team working on a software update. Whatsapp for business just doesn’t check out in this regard!
According to Deepak Anupalli, VP of Engineering at WaveMaker, “Collaborating on delivering a software product requires more than just calls and updates in chat groups. Multiple conversation threads are needed – from feedback on documents to discussions on wireframes. With a tool like Groupe, effective collaboration truly facilitated effective decision making.”
